Title: More Than A Winter's Chill
Challenge/Prompt: Winter
Characters/Pairings: Tseng
Rating: PG
Warnings: Possible spookiness.
Disclaimer: I don't own them. Not making money off of them nor will I ever. I just play with them sometimes.
Summary: Tseng's at Icicle Inn with file info fresh in his mind.
Author's Notes: It's been a long time since I've written a FF7 drabble.

He exhaled and watched the air turn his breath to whisper smoke in front of his face, curling away from him.

The house was gutted long ago, skeletal and empty now, a husk long discarded in the frozen north.

He read the files and knew what transpired here and for a moment, when the wind whipped his hair about, Tseng was certain that he could hear a mother's pleading scream and a child's sob.

His eyes glanced at the house and he pushed the intruding thoughts away. When he exhaled this time, it's more than a winter shiver he has.

Oh, Tseng. Such a ridiculously complex character-- definitely a daunting prospect to write about.

when the wind whipped his hair about, Tseng was certain that he could hear a mother's pleading scream and a child's sob. <-- I love this line.

I REALLY enjoyed this drabble (and omg ignore my edited comment I'm apparently an idiot who can't read. Blame it on lack of sleep) XD

He is. It's one of the many reasons why i love him so.

It was.. i think why i wrote the drabble. I had this... image of him standing in the snow, hair being whipped about and this noise curling in the curve of his ear.

^___^

i'm glad you enjoyed!
and i'll ignore it ;D

Wow, this is wonderful. I love it when people write about scenes and events that are majorly integral to the plot, but don't get a lot of attention after the fact. The flashback scene with Ifalna, Gast and Aeris is so intense, and is one of the most important moments of the game for me in relation to the main plot and characters.

Tseng's presence just blew my mind. The placement of Tseng at this site, where an event took place that is a landmark for both the history of Shinra as well as Aeris's own personal history (and let's not even get into the complex history between Aeris and Tseng themselves), is just mind blowing. There are so many layers because of the memories and people involved in this moment, even though it's only Tseng standing here.

This is beautiful. Thank you so much for writing it--it's incredible how much can be fit into so few words.

*blushes*
Thank you!

I think those small but so very integral scenes are something that should be brought up again in some way. Revisited because they're pivotal points to the story - even if they don't seem like it when they're first introduced.

I'll admit it, when I first seen the flashback in the game I overlooked it because well, I don't think I was fully aware of the full ramifications and just didn't pick up on the smaller, subtle lines in the story.

Thank you again for your words and you are welcome!
